The Police

In Norway and in Horten the local police in many ways have very close connection to the students both in primary and secondary school as in high school. The role of the police in Norway has changed from being the executing police only to keep law and order to become more a kind of responsible citizenship who try to prevent crime and have a good and close communication with students on all levels. Our representative from the Horten Police Staton will try to explain how the police cooperate with students to create good relationship and be more the trustful and helpful police than the former law and order police.

Use of ICT at Horten Videregående skole

ICT have since 1994 been a very important part of education and teaching at national levels. Since the beginning in 1994 ICT have become a central part in all levels of education. Howeever, its only the last ten years that ICT really made a big intrance in the school system.  Now ICt is intepretated in the National Curriculum on all levels as part of many goals. Especially at high school level you can see that ICT is an important way of communicate at school. At Horten videregående skole we have both bad and good experiences using ICT devices in school. Morten Oddvik, teacher and responsible for “nettskolen” (internet school in Vestfold fylkeskommune) will try to explain for you in what way internet and ICT have changed the way of teaching at Horten videregående school.

Responsible citizenship, student council vs principal and administration

Sebastian Vegard Wessman is the present leader for the student council at our school. He is now in his second year as the leader of the student council. The council represents all the students at school, and is an important part of democracy at every school in Norway. The goal for the student council is to provide a certain influence over decisions concerning education and daily life at school. In this paper he will try to explain how the student council works with the principal as the principal is part of the council. Sebastian is a student in his second year at high school. He is in the middle of his three years education course in physical training.
